Day of the dead inspired doodles.

I was "cleaning up" my files and folders and came across these inspiration boards I had to make for a job interview shortly after graduation. I felt like they were worth sharing, interesting to see how my style is still very much the same, as well as how it evolved.

Jogtography

Few weeks ago I watched the movie Yes Man. It was pretty good. I'm not usually a big Jim Carrey fan buuuut it was good. Plus it had Zooey Deschanel in it. Yes, I know, she's amazing. Enough said.
Anyway.....in the movie Zooey Deschanel teaches a Jogtography class. Jogtography is going jogging and taking awesomely blurry photos while doing so (click here to see the Jogtography scene from the movie).
Obviously I loved the idea, so a few days later I found an old disposable camera laying around, dug out my sweatpants and went jogtographing. Turns out jogtographing is as awesome as I thought it would be, however jogging is still pretty boring and lame. The fact that I'm super out of shape and can barley make it past 4 blocks doesn't help either. I was considering doing this more often now...who wants to come?!?!
Here are a few blurry shots from the little disposable camera. It really is nothing special but I love the idea of it and....isn't the idea and inspiration that counts? Yeah, I'm totally going to do this again.

max wanger is a great los angeles based photographer who i am very inspired by. his photos are super fun, dynamic and have an unconventional style. he plays with negative space a lot, seeing things from a different angle, as well as cropping in whimsical ways.
i came across this interview from coolhunting.com. have a quick read through it if your interested. here's his other site with couples, engagement and wedding photos. so awesome.

i'm still working on finding a photography style of my own. i think it'll all come along naturally with time. here's a few shots i took yesterday along the beach in cascais. semi-inspired by mr. max wanger himself. i'm in love with the weather and beautiful blue sky. having fun playing with perspective and whatnot. 

ps: i heard max wanger does workshops every now and then. and he works with the girls from band.do. maybe i should look into moving to los angeles. they have longer summers then vancouver. i at least need to make a visit down there. and there's no way i'm going without andy! anyone care to sponsor our trip?
